Parts of the field were kissed with frost last night, parts were entirely unbothered, and parts just look confused. The smell of decay was evident when I got home from school today, but that hard killing frost still eludes us.

I’m in no hurry

This weekend was the final push to photograph dahlias for the website. Some dahlias desperately needed retakes, and others were new-to-me varieties that needed their first glamor shot. Now comes the long process of getting the photos online!

I’ve been in seed saving mode the past few weeks, bouncing back and forth between harvesting sweet pea seed pods and dahlia seed pods. The dahlia seedling bug bit me pretty hard and now it’s almost painful to walk past a ripening dahlia s

When it feels like everything is a hot pile of garbage (or in this case, a steamy heap of compost), I remind myself that sometimes things have to break down to be rebuilt into something even better. Sometimes, beautiful things grow by feeding on the

One of the things we talk about in therapy is locus of control, or the things that are within and outside of our control. I learned about this eons ago when I was in college and then it became one of the many things that got stored in the cobwebs of

Sometimes I feel like I should only post if I have something noteworthy to say. Sometimes - most of the time - the thoughts are there but the time to form those thoughts into Instagram-able bites is not. So tonight the pictures get to do the talking.

I love yellow dahlias (yes, even “highlighter yellow,” although I’ve stopped growing those neon adjacent ones because there isn’t a market for them). Peachy yellow, buttercream yellow, yellow with a kiss of blush . . . so good

Either my eye sight is worsening (probably) or my phone is ready for an upgrade (also likely), but some nights it’s a challenge to find shots that aren’t blurry. I hear blurry photos from the Instagram of yore are making a comeback, so ma
